Under 15 Minute Labor Day Recipes

It’s that time of year again! Labor Day weekend is upon us, which means one more BBQ to send off summer. It’s the perfect time to get together with your loved ones and relax before heading into the last few months of the year. If you’re looking for a quick crowd-pleaser dish that will have people coming back for seconds, then look no further! We’ve collected some of our favorite Labor Day-approved recipes that you can whip up in 15 minutes or less.


Corn Salsa

A yummy, classic salsa dip perfect to pair with your favorite chip!

Ingredients:

  • 1 15-ounce can yellow corn, drained
  • 1 15-ounce can white corn, drained
  • 1 4-ounce can chopped green chiles, drained
  • 1 2.5-ounce can sliced black olives, drained
  • 4 scallions, finely chopped
  • 2 tomatoes, finely chopped
  • 2 jalapeno peppers, seeded and chopped
  • 3 tablespoons white vinegar
  • 1/3 cup olive oil
  • Kosher salt
  • 1 tablespoon finely chopped fresh cilantro
Directions:
  1. Mix the yellow and white corn, chiles, olives, scallions, tomatoes, jalapeños, vinegar, olive oil and 1/4 teaspoon salt in a medium bowl. Chill for at least 1 hour.
  2. Just before serving, add the cilantro to the salsa.

Pepperoni Potato Salad

A fun new take on the classic potato salad! This recipe mixes in Italian flavors for a unique and delicious flavor.

Ingredients:

  • 4 pounds baby Yukon gold potatoes
  • Kosher salt
  • 1 cup mayonnaise 
  • 3/4 cup marinara sauce 
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese 
  • 8 scallions, green and white parts, chopped
  • 24 ounces mozzarella pearls, drained
  • 7 ounces pepperoni, quartered 
  • 2 cups pitted green olives, halved 
  • 1/2 cup fresh basil, cut into chiffonade 
  • 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper 
  • 1/2 cup fresh parsley, chopped
Directions:
  1. Put the potatoes in a pot with cold water and add 2 tablespoons salt. Cover, bring to a boil and cook until fork-tender, 10 to 15 minutes. Drain, cut in half and transfer to a bowl.
  2. For the dressing, mix together the mayonnaise, marinara sauce and Parmesan. Pour the dressing over the potatoes, add the scallions and give it a stir.
  3. Fold in the mozzarella pearls, pepperoni, olives, basil, pepper and three-quarters of the chopped parsley. Garnish with the remaining parsley.

Dijon Chicken Wings

These glazed and sweet wings are the perfect grab and go dish for a summer BBQ.

Ingredients:
  • Vegetable oil, for brushing
  • 4 pounds chicken wings, split at the joints, tips removed
  • Kosher salt and freshly ground pepper
  • 3/4 cup dijon mustard
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 3 tablespoons mustard powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon finely grated garlic
Directions:
  1. Position racks in the upper and lower thirds of the oven; preheat to 450 degrees F. Brush 2 large baking dishes with vegetable oil. Pat the wings dry; sprinkle with 2 teaspoons salt and 1/2 teaspoon pepper. Spread in the dishes and bake, rotating halfway through, until golden, 40 to 45 minutes.
  2. Meanwhile, mix the dijon mustard, honey, mustard powder and garlic in a bowl. Remove the wings from the oven and toss with the mustard mixture, then continue baking until glazed, 3 to 5 more minutes.

Macaroni and Egg Pasta Salad

It’s not a BBQ without a macaroni pasta salad! Just throw everything in a bowl and you’ll be ready to head out the door.

Ingredients:
  • 1/4 cup minced red onion
  • 8 ounces elbow macaroni
  • 1 chopped celery stalk
  • 1 chopped hard-cooked egg
  • 1/3 cup mayonnaise
  • Pinch of cayenne pepper
  • 1 tablespoon white wine vinegar
  • 3 tablespoons chopped parsley
  • Salt and pepper

Directions:

Soak 1/4 cup minced red onion in cold water, 10 minutes; drain. Cook 8 ounces elbow macaroni as the label directs; drain and rinse under cold water. Toss the macaroni, onion, 1 chopped celery stalk, 1 chopped hard-cooked egg, 1/3 cup mayonnaise, a pinch of cayenne pepper, 1 tablespoon each olive oil and white wine vinegar, and 3 tablespoons chopped parsley. Season with salt and pepper.

Fresh Blackberry Crisp

This dessert recipe is as easy as it gets! Just throw everything together, put it in the oven, and you have a delicious dessert that people will wonder where you got it from.

Ingredients:

  • 4 cups fresh blackberries
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • Juice of 1 lemon
  • 2 tablespoons flour, plus 1/2 cup
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 stick butter

Directions:

Preheat oven to 375 degrees. In large bowl combine blackberries, sugar and lemon juice together with 2 tablespoons of flour. Pour into deep dish pie plate. In separate bowl blend remaining 1/2 cup flour, brown sugar and butter. Mix until crumbly. Sprinkle over berries. Bake for 30 minutes until bubbly.
