Ways To Give Back On Memorial Day

Memorial Day is a time to reflect and acknowledge the ones who have given us so much freedom in our lives. We often take for granted the lives we live, and Memorial Day is an opportunity for us to show our gratitude to those who lost their lives fighting, those who fought that are still around us, and the families of those brave warriors.

Now that temperatures are rising and life is getting somewhat back to normal, this year is a great opportunity to get outside and give back to repay the service of these veterans and soldiers, even in some small way. Here are some ideas for you to try next Memorial Day weekend:

Charity Runs

Many cities have charity runs on Memorial Day, which is a great way for you to give back and to also get your body moving! There are usually different races for different skill levels, so choose one that matches yours and have fun doing your part in giving back.

Decorate A Memorial Site

If you happen to live near a memorial site or a veterans cemetery, make a visit and bring flowers or decorations to the graves that don't have any. Many soldier's have families that have passed or are no longer nearby, so this is a great time to freshen the place up a bit and honor the soldiers who have given so much. This is also a great way to get the children involved, explaining to them just how important it is so celebrate the ones who fought for our country.

Buy A Meal

Many veterans need a bit of help when it comes to meals, so one of the best things you can do is to buy a meal for a veteran that is still around. You can even visit a veteran living center and sit down for a meal, as many of them are really looking for companionship. It's a great way to show your appreciation to them for all they've done!

Create A Care Package

Memorial Day isn't just for veterans, it's also for the soldiers that are still out in the line of duty. Craft a care package of some home goods to really show soldiers that they are appreciated. Search around your community as there are usually organizations that put together care packages at a larger scale.

Volunteer At A Parade

Memorial Day parades are all over the country and usually they are organized by volunteers! Help out in one near you, it's a great way to come together with people in your community for a meaningful cause.
